Wedding Performance

On Saturday, October 27, 2018, in downtown Detroit, Michigan, members of the Wawel Folk Ensemble were invited to participate in wedding reception for one of the ensemble's members, Shaina.  Wawel members participated in presenting the bride and groom with bread and salt (a popular Polish and Slavic tradition) at the beginning of the reception.  As the reception progressed, Wawel took to the dance floor and presented its rendition of the Krakowiak along with the Saxernet polka.  Mid-way through the polka, members of the ensemble grabbed reception guests and had an impromptu dance along.  Congratulations Shaina & Nick!

With the holiday season upon us, Wawel will take some time off to spend with friends and family.  It's next public appearance will be on Christmas Eve at Sweetest Heart of Mary Church in Detroit, Michigan when it participates in procession during the church's Christmas Eve Midnight Mass.

Please continue to check this blog and Wawel's Facebook group for additional updates.
