50th Anniversary Dinner Dance

On Saturday, November 21, 2015, the Wawel Folk Ensemble celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a dinner dance held at the American Polish Century Club in Sterling Heights, Michigan.  Many current members, alumni, family members, guests and friends braved southeastern Michigan's first significant snow fall of 2015 to attend the event.

The event was a great way to celebrate 50 years of the Wawel Folk Ensemble. It included reflections on the group by its co-founder, Marcia Lewandowska, as well as reflections and reminiscings by its current director, Tom Skurski.

Guests at the event experienced a delicious dinner and spent the evening dancing to the sounds of the Coachmen Orchestra and enjoying each other's company as they swapped stories from the various shows, festivals and events that the Ensemble has participated in over the years.

To help celebrate and commemorate the event, the cities of Hamtramck, Sterling Heights, and Warren all proclaimed November 21, 2015 as Wawel Folk Ensemble Day in their respective cities.

Wawel will continue its 50th Anniversary celebrations with a gala 50th Anniversary Concert held which will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Warren Woods Middle School at 7:00 pm.  Tickets will be available.

After the concert, Wawel's next appearance will be on December 24, 2015 at Sweetest Heart of Mary Church in Detroit, Michigan for as part of the procession for its Pasterka.

Please continue to check this blog and Wawel's Facebook group as new performances and appearances are added frequently.
