Polish Fest 2018

From June 15 - June 17, 2018, members of the Wawel Folk Ensemble found themselves again in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the city's annual Polish Fest.  Wawel first attended Polish Fest in 1998.  Wawel's performances at Polish Fest were on Saturday, June 16.  Wawel presented a longer performance which was shared with Polonez from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.  For its performance, Wawel presented suites of dances from Bilgoraj, Sieradz, Podlasie, and Eastern Krakow.


Later in the evening, Wawel presented two numbers in the Polish Folk Dance Association of the America's gala concert at Polish Fest.  Wawel presented suites of dances from Sieradz and Bilgoraj for the PFDAA gala.  Wawel's choreographer, Donna Skurski is the current president of the PFDAA.  She served as master of ceremonies for the PFDAA gala concert.


Following the gala, members of the Ensemble stayed at Polish fest to listen to bands and see what the festival had to offer.  On Sunday morning, they started the long trek home with a new set of Polish Fest memories and already counting the days to Polish Fest 2019.


Wawel's next performance will be at the American Polish Century Club's Annual Polish Festival in Sterling Heights, Michigan (14 Mile Road and Maple Lane) on July 13, 2018.

Polish Heritage Night at Jimmy John's Field

On Thursday, June 7, 2018, members of the Wawel Folk Ensemble performed as part of Polish American Heritage Night at Jimmy John's Field in Utica, Michigan.  Wawel was on the field pre-game serving as an honor guard during the singing of the Polish and American National Anthems.  During the 4th inning, Wawel again took to the field and performed a shortened rendition of its Saxernet Polka.

Wawel's next performance is Saturday, June 16, 2018 as part of Polish Fest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
