Our Lady of Victory Parish Festival

On Sunday, August 21, 2016, members of the Wawel Folk Ensemble took it international as the crossed the boarder to perform at Our Lady of Victory's Parish Festival in Chatham, Ontario, Canada.

The Afternoon was a perfect one for dancing with reasonable temperatures, low humidity and a pleasant breeze.  For its performance, Wawel presented its Sieradz, Cieszyn, Biłgoraj, and Rzeszów suites along with its dances from Old Warsaw.  To give the audience something a little different, the ensemble wore folk dress from the various regions being performed and provided a "Polish Fashion Show" interspersed between the numbers.  Following the performance, the ensemble was treated to a wonderful Polish dinner prepared by members of the Church.

Wawel's next appearance will be at the Polish Day Parade held on Labor Day in Hamtramck, Michigan.

Sweetest Heart of Mary Pierogi Festival 2016

On Sunday, August 14, 2016, members of the Wawel Folk Ensemble performed at Sweetest Heart of Mary Church in Detroit, Michigan's Pierogi Festival.  Long a mainstay on Wawel's performance calendar, Wawel has performed at this event going back to the first Pierogi Festival - 33 years ago.

For the 2016 edition of its Pierogi Festival performance, Wawel presented its Sieradz and Rzeszów suites, the Krakowiak, Kądziałeczka and its medley of dances from Old Warsaw.  Following the performance, members of the Ensemble remained on hand to experience (of course) pierogi and to listen to the sounds of the Misty Blue polka band.

Although summer may be winding down, Wawel certainly isn't.  On August 21, the Ensemble will travel to London, Ontario, Canada for a performance.
