Early Spring Events

On Sunday, March 26, 2017, members of the Wawel Folk Ensemble participated in the 15th Annual Blessing of the Polish Dance Groups at St. Hyacinth Church in Detroit (Poletown), Michigan.  Established by St. Hyacinth's former pastor, Sp. Ks. Francis Skalski, the event has been maintained and nurtured by the parishioners and the parish's current pastor, Ks. Janusz Iwan.  Wawel is proud to have been a part of this event for each of its 15 years.  This year's blessing received some local media attention with an article and photo gallery in the Detroit Free Press.

On Sunday, April 16, 2017 (Easter Sunday), members of the Wawel Folk Ensemble participated in procession at Sweetest Heart of Mary Church in Detroit, Michigan's Resurrection Mass.  Wawel has a long history with Sweetest Heart of Mary.  The group has performed at its annual Pierogi Festival since its establishment.  Additionally, many members of the ensemble were married at Sweetest Heart and are parishioners of the church.

Wawel's next performance will take place in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on April 29, 2017.  Wawel will perform as part of the Tatry Song & Dance Ensemble's 45th Anniversary Concert.  Please check back with this blog and on Facebook as new event are frequently added.
