Wawel at Sweetest Heart of Mary Pierogi Festival
On
Sunday, August 9, 2015, members of the Wawel Folk Ensemble performed at
Sweetest Heart of Mary Church’s annual Pierogi Festival in Detroit,
Michigan. Wawel’s performance included
the Krakowiak, its Cieszyn and Biłgoraj suites, along with the debut performance
of Wawel’s new Polka Warszawska and Wawel’s Saxonet Polka.
Following
the performance, members of the ensemble remained at the Festival enjoying the
music of the Coachmen and a late summer’s evening.
Wawel
has a history with Sweetest Heart of Mary Church going back at least 38
years. Wawel performs annually at the
church’s Pierogi Festival and also participates in the processions on Christmas
Eve for Pasterka and at the Easter Sunday Sunrise service.

Wawel’s
next public appearance will be on September 7, 2015 at the Hamtramck Labor Day parade.
