Waves: A Multicultural Performance/Polish American Heritage Month Happenings
On
Sunday, September 28, 2014 members of the Wawel Folk Ensemble performed in
Canton, Michigan at Waves: A Multicultural Performance. The Ensemble presented its Rzeszów suite. Wawel’s performance was part of a larger
multicultural performance that afternoon.
The members of the Ensemble were invited to stay at the event and take
in the other performances at the event.
October
is Polish American Heritage Month, so there’s a flurry of upcoming activities
for the Ensemble. Here’s a quick run
down:
October
4 (this Saturday) – Wawel’s Bowling Fundraiser – Regal Lanes in Warren,
Michigan. Check-in begins at 8:30. Cost is $20.00 which includes 3 games, pop,
pizza, and shoe rental (please see the previous post for sign-up sheet and additional information).
October
12 – Polish Heritage Month mass and performance at St. John Paul II Parish
(former Transfiguration site) in Detroit, Michigan.
October
15 – Private event at American Polish Century Club in Sterling Heights,
Michigan
October
17 – Polish Night at the Mt. Clemens Elks’ Club in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.
To
keep the heritage events going, members of the Ensemble will begin making and
selling pierogi in November as part of the group’s annual pierogi fundraiser. The Ensemble will be making potato and cheese
with the possibility of also making kapusta pierogi. If you’re interested in bringing some home
for your families’ Thanksgiving or Wigilia table, contact your favorite Wawel
dancer for more information.
We hope to see you at one of these upcoming events. Please check back frequently. New events and information is added as it is received.
