From Wawel's Perch

As temperatures climbed into the mid-90's on Sunday, July 16, many sought shelter from the heat by heading to the air-conditioned indoors. Wawel headed out doors and gave two performances.

In the early afternoon, Wawel performed at the Immaculate Conception Perch Festival in Anchor Bay, Michigan. Like the performance in Birmingham earlier this month, Wawel again shared the bill with Big Daddy Lackowski and his La Dee Das. Wawel presented its Polonez, Kadzialeczka, Opoczno and Lubelski suites and the Karolina polka.

In addition to Wawel, the Perch Festival featured, among other things, Perch (as seen below).

Later that afternoon, Wawel performed at the American Polish Century Club's Polish Festival at Freedom Hill in Sterling Heights, MI. At the Polish Festival, Wawel presented the Polonez, Kadzialeczka, and its Nowy Sacz, Cieszyn, and Zywiec Suites.

The 2006 performances at both the Perch Festival and the Freedom Hill Polish Festival marks Wawel's return to these festivals' lineups. Wawel was unable to perform in both of these festivals in 2005 because the Ensemble was in Poland Participating in the Triennial Rzeszow Folk Festival.

Wawel's next public performances are at Sweetest Heart of Mary's Pierogi Festival on August 13, St. Hyacinth's on August 20 (Morning/ Early Afternoon) and St. Malachy's also on August 20 (Evening Performance).
